How To Take The Test
The Basics
The Ovry® Male Fertility Test is designed for at-home use. Once the test is completed, the Test Device produces a simple "positive" or "negative" result. A positive test result indicates normal sperm concentration. A negative test result indicates low sperm concentration.
For those looking to conceive (now or in the future), a negative result with the Male Fertility Test is an indication that you may have difficulty with impregnation, which can inform a proactive decision to visit a physician for further analysis.
Disclaimer: There are other factors beyond sperm concentration (like sperm motility and morphology) that can impact male fertility. Since the Ovry® Male Fertility Test measures sperm concentration alone, using this test is not enough to determine whether or not a person is fertile. However, sperm concentration is one of the leading indicators of male infertility: therefore, this test can save couples time and frustration by identifying possible obstacles to getting pregnant earlier than they might have otherwise discovered.
Why we made this
Despite sperm being half the equation, the burden of infertility often falls disproportionately on those with ovaries. As a business founded on principles of equality, transparency and inclusivity, it's important to us to bring men and people with sperm into the fertility conversation. Not only are half of all infertility cases sperm-related, but recent studies have shown that sperm counts are on a rapid decline among men in Western countries.
The science behind our test
The Male Fertility Test is a qualitative immunoassay for the detection of sperm SP10 protein in semen. Research has shown that sperm SP10 protein has a linear relationship with sperm concentration. Since lower than normal sperm concentration (defined by the World Health Organization as sperm concentrations of less than 15 million sperm per milliliter) is a leading indicator of male infertility, the Male Fertility Test produces a positive result for sperm concentrations above 15 million sperm per milliliter and it produces a negative result for sperm concentrations below 15 million sperm per milliliter.
After a specimen is placed in the specimen well, it reacts with SP10 monoclonal antibody-coated particles that have been applied to the specimen pad. This mixture migrates chromatographically and interacts with the immobilized SP10 monoclonal antibody. This mixture binds to the SP10 monoclonal antibody in the test when SP10 protein is equal to or greater than 15 million sperm per milliliter, indicating a positive result.

This test has been instrumental in our TTC journey. We’ve been trying for 16 months and bought this test in January to see if maybe my husband had a role to play. Sure enough we got this stark negative which promoted us to go get further testing which confirmed that my husband does have low sperm. Glad I took it. I was worried cause my doctor referred me to go get an ultrasound scan and it turns out I have hydrocele, not tender, no pain just some fluid accumulation around the testes.
We did this test since we’ve been trying for 6 months to have a baby. The result is faint but it’s there, would this mean my husband is on the lower end of normal?
This was 8-9 minutes in. It is probably the faintest “potentially positive” example I’ve seen on here among other reviews. If it is positive, does the faintness or boldness indicate any higher or lower counts? So if this is positive does it pretty much put the sperm count very close to that 15 million limit that the test detects? Thanks

Before my wife and I started trying for a family I took this test and got a stark negative. It prompted a visit to a fertility clinic that tested my sperm. Through this they discovered I have Varicocele (which is apparently responsible for almost 40% of infertility in men!! I had never even heard of it before). So glad we used this test because it saved us a lot of time. Doc said our chances of conceiving naturally were very low but thankfully I can have a surgery to fix my Varicocele and hopefully start trying for our first after that. Great product as a pre-screening tool and grateful it helped us be proactive in addressing my health issues.

My husband and I decided we will start trying for a family, however we weren’t sure if the ‘navy’ was in working order. The test was simple and easy to do. We are happy to know we are a step closer to starting our own family.
One of the line was blurry, after 5 minutes it's was hard to read but after 9 minutes it's looks a little more clear. I guess it's positive but would be better if the line was clear.
So relieved to get a positive! The test has quite a few steps but it’s pretty straight forward. We just started trying and it’s great to have peace of mind starting off on this new chapter.
We asked our sperm donor to do one of these tests after trying home insemination for a few cycles. Glad we did - sad that it came back negative but we are grateful to have the information now. A really great tool for folks trying home insemination with a known donor before putting yourself through the clinical rigamarole.

I'm writing a 3 because as mentioned in other reviews, it's hard to know if you've done it right. Transferring the materials from the dropper is difficult because of the texture. In the end because I could not get drops I ended up putting everything in the dropper into the solution. Is there a significant chance the affects the result? I'm unsure because at the end of the day I did get 3 drops into the well fine. Would love your insight! Thanks
Store owner replied: Mark, as indicated in the instructions, it's important to let the sample sit for at least 1 hour before performing the test, so that the semen undergoes liquefaction and is easier to transport. If after 1 hour your semen is not significantly more liquid that it was at ejaculation, that may be a sign of other underlying health issues. Using more than 3 drops will effect the results. We will reach out to you with more information.

Simple test that takes a bit of patience, some difficulty being accurate with the amount of drops due to the consistency of the……materials…in question. My understanding of this result is that this is close to the lower limit of the test of 15 million sperm per ml.
Followed instructions to a T and we found the results super unclear… is this a positive, negative or a faulty test? We feel like we wasted $60.

There appears to be a smudge of some kind along the second line, which can happen before the test has had a chance to fully dry. A negative result would not have any visible second line. Cool product. Wife and I have been trying for about 8 months. She found this at shoppers and made me do it lol.test was negative so have to go doc for follow up. Threw out the test so only have picture of box but cool product and pretty easy to use. Hardest part is aiming in the cup lol
It ended up working fine, but the instructions being based on numbers of drops was difficult due to the consistency of the… materials.
The test was super easy and instructions were easy to follow. I was curious when I saw the red streak below the test line, as to what that meant? When looking at other people’s photos of their results I didn’t see the same streak.

Tbh this was actually kinda fun to do with my husband. FYI the little eye dropper thingy is INSIDE the pouch. I didn’t realize that at first and thought it was missing. Cool product, happy we got a positive.

Store owner replied: Hi Brad. That is a normal test reaction. The dark line is the control line and the lighter line is the test line. Two lines appearing within the results reading window is a positive result so your test was positive, indicating normal levels of sperm concentration :)

Store owner replied: If the second faint line was not visible within 10 minutes and appeared a while after taking the test, your result would be negative. If that second faint line appeared within the results reading window, this is an indication that sperm concentration is likely very close to the test threshold of 15 million sperm per mL of semen. Though it is not impossible to get pregnant with sperm concentrations at that level, it may pose some challenges and we always recommend that the best course of action should be decided between you, your partner and your medical doctor.
Honestly it’s pretty cool this exists. Glad to finally contribute in some way and feel like I’m part of this. Got a blazing positive, which felt extra nice :) but also it was kinda fun to follow all the steps. I don’t know if everyone would think it’s fun to this test but the instructions are straightforward. I’d recommend it
This infertility test went great. I was surprised how convenient and quick the results had shown. For a year and a half my partner and I have tried to conceive with no luck as of yet. I am continuing to be hopeful despite, but, I know that our time will come and we can focus on my own reproductive health at this time.
